Speed Training: The BFS Push/Pull Sled
Speed, like most athletic attributes, begins with strength. Power cleans and full parallel squats are multi joint exercises that will boost an athlete's ability to explode from a standing start and get up to speed incredibly quickly.
In fact, Olympic weight lifters are often faster than pure sprinters for the first several steps because of their emphasis on deep squats and lifting large weights.
However most all around athletes need to keep accelerating beyond the first few steps and maintain the speed achieved for longer distances. For these aspects of speed BFS has specific training equipment to keep you ahead of the competition.
Among the most versatile of tools is the BFS Push Pull Sled. The plate loaded nature of this sled allows for a variety of weights to be used to train each phase of acceleration. The BFS Push Pull Sled also allows far a wide range of hand placements that give a full range of lean angles for the athlete to work through.
For a detailed overview of speed training equipment including electronic testing and measuring units we recommend reading "The Next Step in Speed Training" article in the January/February Issue of BFS Magazine.
