WIN AS ONE! Newcomb High School Skyhawks

The Skyhawks are Soaring

Newcomb High School in New Mexico is part of the Central Consolidated School district in the four corners region of New Mexico. Through the district’s commitment to improving facilities for students and athletes, all three high schools and three middle schools were introduced to the BFS Total Program and equipped with new, highly functional weight rooms. Newcomb High School is the smallest high school in the district but the Skyhawks are proving to have unrivaled heart and character.

In the Summer and Fall of 2018 Newcomb Skyhawks football team dedicated themselves to taking advantage of their new facilities and programs by bringing a real “Be An 11” attitude to the new season. These kids had the unswerving support of the entire faculty including coaches Ronnie Armenta, Sean Hayes, Tye Hayes, and Bill McLaughlin. But the Skyhawk community doesn’t stop with just football - Head Coach Eric Stovall credits the contribution of Athletic Director Dominique Richardson, Doctor Deborah Waters, our athletic trainer, Matt Vasquez, and the school staff, teachers and community. WIN AS ONE is the Skyhawk mantra.

And win they did - setting multiple school records and firsts along the way.

*Quarterfinalist fall of 2018 - overall 10 wins 2 losses team record!
*First 10 Win season in school history
*First home playoff win against Lordsburg (1st round-2018), in school history - final score 56-20
*Overall team grade point average above 3.0
*Our Skyhawk team goal is to win the NMAA class AA state championship in 2019
Skyhawks athletic's goals reach beyond the field of play. This team strives to continue to earn good grades in the classroom, and foster positive relationships with our youth and the Newcomb community.

With just over 200 students most students participate in more than one sport Several of the athletes participating in football and basketball have stated: “We win, and are stronger in the 4th quarter, because of BFS”

In AA basketball the Skyhawks competed in the state championship game and finished State Runner Up. Falling just short does nothing to diminish these young athletes commitment to improving - especially now that they have a taste for how far hard work and dedication can take them! These basketball players are truly 11s!
